Piano Tutor in Halesowen

Maths with CG. Curtis Gregory Maths Tutor

Beginner to Intermediate
£25 per hour

I have played both keyboard and piano for as long as I can remember. I achieved my Grade 8 in keyboard with distinction and have since taught myself piano up to about Grade 7/8. I can support your piano journey up to about Grade 5.

I play piano nearly every day both from classical sheet music and songs using chords and lyrics. My song playlist includes over 60 songs from a wide variety of artists including Ed Sheeran, Queen, The Beatles, Elvis Presley and many more.

I studied music at both GCSE and A Level, giving me a broad understanding of the basics in music theory.

I earn my living as a Maths Tutor and I have had over 100 satisfied students since December 2016. I wish to start tutoring piano part time at an affordable price for something to do when I am not tutoring maths and making free resources. Helping others and music are two things I am very passionate about. Feel free to ask me for a copy of my DBS certificate.

We can learn how to play songs from chords to accompany or make recognisable covers of your favourites. Alternatively we can play from notated sheet music up to around Grade 5 level.

For playing from chords, we first learn the theory of how chords are constructed then apply this to being able to freely improvise around them in time to the rest of a band or expressively as a solo pianist while also playing the melody.

For playing from notated music, we start off with the Initial Grade for beginners (or at the Grade you currently play at) and explore a range of pieces, technical exercises and theory to allow you to be able to play for fun, to pass your graded exams or to perform.

Some Questions Answered:

How often should tuition take place?

Typically, students go for weekly tuition. I cannot usually offer any less than this unless they are one off lessons. More than weekly will obviously mean more support and will boost the rate of progress.

Where will the lessons take place?

I usually travel to your home. I can also offer lessons at my home on my piano.

I will usually not travel more than 5km from my home in the postcode B63 1AL. Usually I walk to lessons if possible.
